    Governor Zebulon Vance House and Museum
    Historians believe this house was built during the mid-1800s. It is best known as the home of Governor Zebulon Vance following his banishment from the state capitol in 1865. Today the two-story building is one of the oldest residences in Statesville. A museum, which is run by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, is found within its walls.

    Hiddenite Center Museum and Gallery

    Found in between Statesville and Taylorsville is the small town of Hiddenite, which is home to the Lucas Mansion. Today the 22-room, three-story mansion is known as the Hiddenite Center. It holds a museum, an art gallery, a doll collection and a gift shop. The house was built in the late-1890s and was enlarged in 1915 when it the second floor of the house was lifted and another level was squeezed in between. The Hiddenite Center is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4:30pm.
